![]() ![]() Lisa chose January's selection, and that was Carta. Carta is on Market just under the central freeway overpass. The atmosphere is airy with lots of maps and track lighting. Their menu changes every month and usually centers around a country or region of the world. When we went, it was the best of 1997 menu, featuring the best dishes from the past 12 months. This made for an eclectic mix of textures and tastes. We sampled at least five different dishes, all of which were quite tasty. I would name them all now, but I can't remember them all!! I can say that across the board, Carta's food is delicious. The prices are pretty high, but worth it for the food. Our waiter, however, was Mr. Attitude. He seemed pretty put out by the fact that he had to bring us things like beverages and food. Everyone also agreed that the bathroom was quite enjoyable. I didn't see it, but I guess it was decorated in a pretty cool way. Carta is far enough away from the crowded Castro/Market area to make parking pretty easy. The food rates a 8, while the service rates a 5.
