Well, I am finally writing my review of August's club choice: the Mission's "Herbivore." Our ever-dwindling supper club attendees included Julie and I, Randy and Lisa, and Andrew. Located on Valencia, it is a strictly vegetarian restaurant (vegan?) with a wide variety of choices for many different tastes. As I remember, even Andy, a self-proclaimed carnivore and proud of it, found something quite tasty and very satisfying on the menu. Quite honestly, I can't remember what everyone had, but I had something like polenta, I think. It tasted terrific, but something in it (maybe it was the texturized wheat gluten) made my mouth and throat swell up in some sort of allergic reaction! To the best of my knowledge, nobody else in our party had anything swell up.
Both of our waitresses (we seemed to have two) were pleasant if not all that familiar with what was on the menu or what it was made out of. The prices were reasonable.
Herbivore's food and great menu rates a 7, while a stylishly dark atmosphere, tricky parking, and perplexed wait staff rate a 5. |
