![]() ![]() Tana was chosen by ME, after much deliberation. The decision was made mostly on the grounds that Tana was located on 18th and Diamond, only two blocks away from the Castro Theater where we were seeing a movie that night (Jonathan Demme's "Storefront Hitchcock", which was great!!). Further excitement was added by the fact that STACEY (Sean's wife) was actually coming to a supper club!! Unheard of! The interior of Tana is pretty cool. It has black walls with big archways and African artifacts strewn about. There were not a lot of people there (only one other party out on the balcony) and there was only one waiter, who was quite nice. The food was typical Ethiopian, with the platter of stuff in the middle and warm bread to scoop it all up. The food was okay. I have had better at Massawa in the Haight. But I did have a good time with the spicy chicken (it was a scorcher!). The vegetarians had plenty to choose from. Don't get me started on parking in the Castro! The food rates a 5, while the service and atmosphere rates a 6.
