VINO E CUCINA TRATTORIA

On Tuesday the 24th of June, the "Last Tuesday's Supper Club" got off to an Italian start at "Vino e Cucina Trattoria" on Third Street between Bryant and Harrison. Some of you may remember the space as Ruby's, which moved and changed names (to what, I have no clue). The big tomato is still up above the door, but the front of the restraurant is now painted in bright colors.
Although there were a few no-shows (Stacey, Lisa, Julie and Rob) and Sean had to drive around the block twenty-two times until he realized it was on Third, not Harrison, the evening was a big success. By 8:00, we had arrived.
We started with the grilled vegetables plate and the "cheesy risotto balls" (my name for them). Both were very good, although the waitress put the major up-sell pressure on us. Below are the reviews of our main courses.

Matt: I had a salad which was simple and tasty, although I am not a big fan of the bitter greens. I feel like I am eating weeds or catnip or something. My main course was the Lasagne. It was magnificent. A tasty green noodle around spinach, ham and cheese in a creamy alfredo-esqe sauce. Centered on the plate was a delightful peppers and broccoli medly (and, boy, do I love a medly!). Dessert was the wacky-sounding "chocolate salami" which is meant for the serious chocolate lover only. The rich chocolate log marbled with almonds and stringy things I think were coconut shavings is sliced into 3 slabs and surrounded by islands of whipped cream topped with sliced strawberries. But all you really taste is chocolate. Overall 7.
